Myself and fellow students Tom Lovell and Simon Mortimer developed a concept based on the theme of anticipation for our graduate showcase book. We felt that this was a relevant theme to designers who often await the ideal solution or breakthrough to a creative problem and to soon-to-be graduates anticipating leaving higher education and looking to start their career. We pitched this idea to our student peers and course tutors, after winning the pitch we were then required to design & art direct the book, set a written brief for students to respond to and liaise with external printers and paper merchants. This concept also enabled a wide array of visual and physical correlations throughout the book, such as spreading a series of works out sporadically or concealing information behind a folded page, prompting the reader to anticipate seeing the partially hidden content. The book was printed in 2 colours, greyscale and special fluorescent. Helping the book to stand out among the plethora of graduate publications competing for attention and giving the eclectic selection of work a consistent feel.
