Portraits from the Golden Age

Louise Brooks
Louise Brooks 2

Recently visited the Glamour of the Gods exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. The show features a great, albeit small, selection of shots from the Silent Film era, all the way up to the 1960′s. With portraits of classic Hollywood stars such as Greta Garbo, Marlon Brando and Loretta Young, plus an inside look at how the images were painstakingly airbrushed in a pre-photoshop era. My favorite was definitely the Louise Brooks portraits by E.R Richee. What a fantastic use of high contrast! The exhibition runs until the 23rd October.
